Nineof the ten houses shown on this page were custom designed by the Builder, Ben Neighbors. The last house was initially designed by a local architect and modified by the Builder. The modification removed a basement, rotated the garage to a side entry and added a bonus room over the garage. The bonus room added functionality and space that was lost when the basement was removed. The advantage of removing the basement was that the house is sitting on solid limestone and a basement was not practical. This modification saved the homeowner tens of thousands of dollars. The basement also would have had all four walls below grade and created a dungeon effect. Moving the space over the garage created better quality space with natural light and prevented issues associated with moisture in basements. A separate storm shelter was provided in the hall between the house and garage. This is an example of the benefits of building with a builder who has the knowledge and capability to create and or modify plans for a specific customer or lot conditions.
